As a part of the Riverside Garden community, I agree to the following policies:
- The plot rental season is from February 1 to January 31.
- No more than 2 plots given to a household. A plot fee of $30 is required before the plot can be assigned. Half of this fee will go toward expenses of the community garden (water, plant/seed purchases, community tools, etc.). A $15 clean-up deposit will be refunded at the end of the season after you have removed all of your plants and cleaned your plot. You may elect to keep this deposit on account for the next gardening season.
- Each gardener will be given one key to the garden for access to tools and watering equipment. Gardeners should bring that key each time they work in the garden. Keep the shed locked and respect all stored tools and return all borrowed tools when finished.
- I agree to volunteer at least 4 hours per season for Riverside Garden maintenance or garden events to make our garden successful.
- I agree to follow chemical-free gardening practices.
- I will dispose of all garden and other waste properly.
- No smoking, spitting, or alcohol in the garden.
- No illegal plants in the garden.
- I will keep my plot area, path around my plot or raised bed, and communal areas clean and free of debris.
- Plots are not transferable nor refundable without board approval.
- I am responsible for any guest (adult, child or pet) that I bring to the garden.
- I will respect other gardeners. Discrimination, verbal abuse of gardeners and/or their guests, or picking other gardeners’ produce will not be tolerated.
- I will not waste water. I will ensure the water is off.
- I will clean and return all tools I use to the shed when I am finished.
- No machinery is allowed in the garden unless first approved by the garden board.
- I will clean up my plot and return my key or pay the next year’s fee by January 31.
- I forfeit my right to bring suit against garden board members.
- I will report any vandalism or theft to the garden board (info@riversidegarden) and make a police report by calling the Westsubstation at (316) 350-3460.
Failure to garden by these rules may result in a forfeiture of my plot. I will inform the board if I do not wish to continue with my garden.
